They teased us with ‘Splitting Atom’ EP in 2009, but now attack us with this highly anticipated album ‘Heligoland’. With the help of some guest vocals such as Blur’s Damon Albarn and Elbow’s Guy Garvey, this album throws them back into the mainstream.
Portishead’s Adrian Utley gives a helping hand on the guitar with Damon Albarn in `Saturday Come Slow’ track. The track seems to suit singer Damon as compared to such slow rhythmic Blur songs such as ‘Out Of Time’.
Massive Attack give exactly what they say on the tin an attack of jumpy beats to slow rhythmic bass lines that leave you wanting more. Stand out tracks such as ‘Paradise Circus’ has a Portishead/ Sneaker pimps sound, compared to the more up beat sound of ‘Babel’ featuring the first lady vocalist of trip hop Martina Topley-Bird.
The album hocks you from the first track, a perfect album to play continuously in your bedroom whilst chilling. Welcome back Massive Attack!
