'Dub-Bass'- you what?

It came to my attention that Timberland claims to have started dubstep referring to it as more like ‘Dub-bass’ in an interview with George Lamb - and this instantly made me laugh out loud. As he insinuated it is like hip hop bass slowed down in which HE started- apparently. No- Timberland the only thing you started was piss poor music and giving a helping hand to Z-list artists who couldn’t produce a turd without assistance. Ok, maybe a bit harsh on the fella but his big headedness got to me as he continued by claiming: “the UK scene, they’re always telling me that I started it. You have Dub-bass”. Who told him this? An x-factor reject? Well that just put the cherry on a very large ego cake.

Or maybe he’s latching on to the next big thing? As Drum and Bass has kind of fizzled out over the years- I mean lets face it there hasn’t been anything really exciting to come out of D & B since…..erm?

Dubstep has been around since the early 90s or maybe even earlier. I grew into it more as it seeped out of the dark alleyways and into the mainstream, and now with new exciting artists like Rusko and Jakwod etc... That are taking the genre out of the underground and rippling it through the clubs. I’m sure if I asked them who influenced their Dubstep, oh no sorry ‘Dub-bass’ I’m guessing Timberland would not be one of them.
