Audio Bullys// Higher than the Eiffel

After four years the Audio Bullys return, bullying us back on to the dance floor with more rough, house stomping tunes.

It’s been rather a hard decade for power house/ electro music, as for the likes of Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx are not what they used to be, whereas Audio Bullys merge cockney hip-hop slang with block rocking beats that keep the vibe alive and fresh. Not the biggest band to come out of this genre, but the Bullys have recaptured the energy of their early predecessors.

Probably the strongest track on the album ‘Only Man’ their first single blasts a throbbing punch that leaves you on the ropes. With hot of the collar remixes from Jakwod, who had great success with Ellie Goulding remix- ‘Under the Sheets’. Not all tracks are heavy on the ears, such as ‘Daisy Chain’ is a nice kick back harmonious jam, showcasing that they are clearly not just a lad’s band.

To drum up some hype, the Bullys released the heavily amped album sample, ‘Up in the Sky’, for free to download. This spiralling, dirty club-filled anthem gave an indication that they were heading towards a deeper underground sound for their new release.

However, what this album lacks is a clear anthem for which it will be remembered by, as their second album ‘Generation’ had such tracks as the bass thumping ‘Shot me down’ which was probably their biggest to date. Not forgetting the loud, menacing debut single ‘We Don’t Care’, set them apart as ones to watch out for.

‘Higher than the Eiffel’ certainly indicates that electro is still alive and kicking
